Utility Locator - Atlanta, GA
Position Summary
eX² is seeking a Utility Locator to join our team. This individual will be skilled in supporting underground facility construction activities with a focus on damage prevention and the protection of multiple utilities’ infrastructure.
The position will require the use of various industry tools, standards and methods to respond to dig ticket requests from contractor crews to locate, identify and mark existing client infrastructure and meet compliance with Company, State and Federal processes, procedures, rules and regulations.

Roles & Responsibilities
Locates and marks underground facilities using various industry tools, standards and methods, including the use of various locating devices and utility maps
Compares real-world conditions to record documentation to identify errors and omissions
Verifies location of all client facilities within specified dig extents
Examines and investigates all damages with their purview creating all required documentation
Ensures all work is performed safely
Watches and protects client facilities within a given area as directed by client
Understands contractor’s means and methods for subsurface installations
Job Requirements
Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience
Three to five years utility locating experience required
Experience with the construction and installation of below grade infrastructure
Experience working within and utilizing existing utility standard designs
Experience with complex urban underground utility infrastructure
Experience serving as firm-client liaison
Experience reviewing design drawings created by others
Experience in the use and basic maintenance of industry standard locating equipment
Experience using basic communication and technical devices
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support excellent working relations within company and with customers, citizens and contractor representatives
Good organizational skills with the ability to handle many various tasks simultaneously
Knowledge and understanding of safe worksite practices
Proficiency in web-based email
Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
Capable of moving around on construction work sites, public streets and parkways
Capable of lifting up to 75lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, kneel or sit for extended periods of time
Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various measurement, locating and testing instruments
Other Requirements
Work Environment
Work safely outside in all weather conditions year round
Occasionally work in excavations areas and roadways
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and vibration
The noise level in the work environment is occasionally moderate to loud
Tools and Equipment
Must be capable of operating the following:
Company-provided computer, including word processing and spreadsheet software
Company-provided vehicle
Phone, camera and GPS
Tape measure, wheel, various types of locating equipment, not including locating receiver/transmitter
Language Skills
Communicates effectively in oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
