Telecommunications OSP Construction Superintendent - Holland, MI

Position Summary

eX² Technology is seeking a Telecommunications OSP Construction Superintendent to join our team. As a Telecommunications OSP Construction Superintendent, you will build and inspect project sites and troubleshoot issues during project execution, determine work force requirements and production schedules, oversee quality control initiatives, ensure exceptional service to our customers and serve as a liaison between the Company, Field Personnel, Customers and Subcontractors.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret and build according to design site plans and layouts.

  • Perform inspections and troubleshoot problems throughout entire install. Capture and provide close-out packages.

  • Coordinate submitting for, acquiring, and closing out permits.

  • Attend bid walks to inspect work areas and determine type of work, materials, and equipment required to be used.

  • Conduct site surveys, as necessary.

  • Study specifications to plan procedures for project on basis of start and completion dates/times and staffing requirements for each phase of Project/Construction.

  • Determine work force requirements and establishes production schedules to meet service loads. Estimates worker hour requirements for completion of each job assignment.

  • Initiate job work orders for all construction/project work.

  • Create bill of materials (BOM) and examines estimates of material, equipment, and production costs, performance requirements and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Process and review all documentation generated from outside office (timesheets, job sheets, reports and production records) for accuracy, completeness and details.

  • Initiate list of tools and materials to be ordered/delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules. Direct and coordinate testing and inspecting of equipment for operational performance.

  • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives and coordinate objectives with job production procedures in cooperation with Field Supervisors to maximize service reliability and minimize costs.

  • Request amendments to or extensions of job service contracts (change orders).

  • Investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality.

  • Act as liaison between Company, Field Personnel and Customers.

  • Convey company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

  • Convey job orders to workers and assigns duties.

  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

  • Confer with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within work force.

  • Establish and coordinate Field Personnel’s daily schedules.

  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractor’s construction activities and progress.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field, six to eight years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Six years or more of related construction experience and/or training.

  • Experience in managing employees, including hiring, terminating, completing performance reviews, allocating work, setting schedules, training, etc.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Good communication skills, reading and writing skills

  • Excellent computer skills. Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and project management software

  • Clean Driving Record, valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Must be able to accommodate out of town travel, if required.

  • Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment and electro-mechanical equipment.

  • Highly organized and be able to effectively report verbally and written reports back to the Operations Manager or Director.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The incumbent is required to walk on potential construction sites in rough terrain and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may split time between work in a semi-quiet office environment and on customer sites, where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.

Language Skills

Communicates effectively in oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
