Permit Specialist - Atlanta/Chicago/Omaha

Position Summary

 eX² Technology is seeking a Permit Specialist to join our team. This individual will be skilled in utilizing CAD and/or ESRI software such as ArcGIS/FM, 3GISLive, AutoCAD, QGIS or other software for creating, tracking and managing permit drawings. As a Permit Engineer, you will work with utility owners, DOTs and local and state jurisdictions to ascertain all permit requirements. We seek someone capable of creating or facilitating the creation of all required drawings, completing permit applications, submitting permit applications and tracking all permits during the course of a project while managing the workflow of the permit process and complete reporting.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Create SOW documents and reports for the client

  • Conduct regular update meetings with Project Managers and the client

  • Create supporting documents for processes

  • Create and edit drawing files

  • Prepare and submit permit applications

  • Coordinate with utilities and government jurisdictions

Job Requirements

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in permit engineering, telecom engineering or related fields

  • Experience in various GIS and/or AutoCAD mapping software is required

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to multitask, work on multiple projects simultaneously and have experience working in a fast-paced engineering production environment

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong sense of methodology, processes and metrics

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and ESRI (or other fiber design tools) is required

  • High integrity and work ethic

  • Telecommunications fiber network experience is desired

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The incumbent is occasionally required to walk or stand for long periods of time. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent will work in a semi-quiet office environment.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents Communicates effectively in oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license and pass a mandatory drug test.

Some travel may be required to build working relationships with project entities to create a smooth permit application process.
