IT Systems Administrator - Microsoft 365 - Naperville or Park Ridge, IL or Omaha, NE

­Position Summary

eX2 Technology is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IT System Administrator to join its team. As an IT System Administrator, you will manage, maintain and optimize our IT infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Office 365 and other Microsoft cloud services to ensure seamless and secure operations of our IT systems. The IT Administrator role requires a balance of technical expertise, end-user support, and collaboration with various business units to ensure our IT systems align with organizational needs and objectives. Some of the position objectives include:

  • Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware

  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software

  • Track and maintain hardware and software inventory

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for building, maintaining, administrating, documenting, and ensuring the health of all Microsoft Cloud Services in our environment.

  • Communicate appropriately with end users to understand their needs. Proceed with appropriate actions that include requirement documentation, design, and project management.

  • Evaluate needs and deliver solutions using OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint and other Office 365 collaboration tools.

  • Manage the Office 365 interface and perform technical tasks related to domains, security groups, users, and licenses. Administer and support Azure Active Directory and Exchange policies.

  • Administer the Exchange environment, be responsible for maintaining the settings for user mailboxes, and e-mail, including those required for connectivity with Outlook.

  • Administer Teams and OneDrive, be responsible for all configuration and support of Teams and OneDrive functionality to support the end user community.

  • Have knowledge of Authorization & Authentication in Microsoft hybrid environment and experience with Azure AD, including Single Sign On (SSO) and Multi Factor Authentication (MFA).

  • Work closely with affiliate business units to understand their specific IT needs and challenges. Develop and recommend tailored IT solutions to support operational goals. Provide guidance during technology rollouts and upgrades to minimize disruptions.

  • Successfully perform backup and recovery duties, establish standards, and schedules for cloud-based backups.

  • Continually monitor the operational impact of systems, user acceptance, and compliance with department objectives. Revise and maintain documentation as necessary.

  • Monitor performance of IT systems to determine cost and productivity levels, make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT end user workstations.

  • Deploy new users to the existing environment.

  • Develop and execute business continuity/disaster recovery planning and maintain data backups.

  • Perform help desk activities representing approximately 15-20% of this roles time to ensure the IT needs of users are met.

  • Perform ongoing support and maintenance of all hardware, software, and network components.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate

  • Administrator proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications and tools

  • Experience with Azure Active Directory and Group Policy Management

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide resolutions

  • Prior experience providing Help Desk support

  • 5+ years of experience in a systems administrator role.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Platform, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Security & Compliance Center, Office, and OneDrive for Business

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Intune MDM, Azure AD, SSO and Identity Management

  • Knowledge of PowerShell, LDAP, transfer protocols, API's and troubleshooting dataflows

  • Familiarity with application monitoring tools, reviewing log files, and be available on occasion for off hours emergency support for critical applications

  • In-depth knowledge of Office365 licensing, features, and policy

  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting is a plus

  • Knowledge base of Office 365 technical architecture and the interdependencies with other enterprise services in O365/Azure technology stack

  • Experience developing technical solutions using O365 Suite of products

  • Experience with Identity and Conditional Access design and implementation

  • Experience with implementation/configuration of Office 365 messaging and collaboration tools

  • Implementation of advanced functions of Office 365 Security and Compliance Center, Microsoft.

  • Federation Integration with Office 365, Azure, and Identity Management

  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills

  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Firm grasp on IT infrastructure and operations best practices

  • Experience with integration of multiple business platforms such as Acumatica, ESRI, ADP and others

  • Familiarity with enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and systems performance monitoring

  • Expertise in implementing, configuring, and testing IT solutions

  • Strong creative and analytical thinking

  • Microsoft Professional certification

Work Environment

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
