GIS Technician - Remote
Position Summary
eX² Technology is seeking an individual skilled in preparing Outside Plant (OSP)/telecommunications drawings for fiber construction and permit packages to join our team as a GIS Technician. As a GIS Technician, you will utilize GIS software to draft clear, detailed and complete drawings with accuracy while incorporating design inputs, sketches, field notes and permitting ordinances. The GIS Technician will be able to comprehend, interpret and render verbal inputs from the field teams as required.

Roles & Responsibilities
Create new base maps and post existing system maps from available records
Assist with the revision/acceptance of internal GIS work requests
Coordinate with other Technicians and Analysts in data development, updating existing records and support project initiatives
Complete drawings with accurate detail that incorporates permitting ordinances, design inputs, sketches and field notes
Create drawing packages to be used for construction or permit applications
Perform other duties as assigned in engineering, permitting and construction processes
Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc.; Installation, Technical, Operations and Safety Manuals as well as the Employee Handbook)
Work with management to schedule work and manage workload to meet customer and Company expectations
Other duties as defined
Job Requirements
Education
Associate degree in Drafting and Design Technology is desired
Experience
3-5 years of experience in OSP design or civil engineering design using GIS software. Any knowledge and experience of other drafting programs is a plus
Experience in software such as ArcGIS/FM, 3GISLive, QGIS and/or other GIS Fiber Management software is preferred
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Expertise using GIS software products, especially ArcMap and/or QGIS
Working knowledge of geospatial coordinate systems
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and MS Project
Working knowledge of Google Earth, Google Maps and similar
Utilize skills and experience to perform data analysis, queries and management and produce reports for projects
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The incumbent is occasionally required to walk or stand for long periods of time. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Other Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may split time between work in a semi-quiet office environment and on customer sites, where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, and other documents. Communicates effectively in oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license and pass a mandatory drug test.
