Fiber Designer - Remote

­Position Summary

eX² Technology is seeking a Fiber Designer to join our team who is skilled in utilizing project tools such as ArcGIS and/or other GIS fiber management software for managing all OSP design information. As a Fiber Designer, you will design and develop accurate layouts for OSP fiber designs, incorporating all design specifications, permitting ordinances, design inputs and field notes.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop layouts for OSP fiber design for various architectures using aerial and underground structures

  • Generate bills of materials, splice sheets and other supporting documentation for the design

  • Review completed designs for errors and efficiency

  • Design ISP patch panel diagrams and cable rack layouts

  • Write supporting documents, instruction manuals and statements of work

Job Requirements

Education

  • Associates’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related field is preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in OSP fiber optic or related design.

  • Experience in various GIS mapping software and fiber management software is required. AutoCAD experience is a plus.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or ESRI (or other fiber design tools) is required

  • Telecommunications fiber network experience is desired

  • CAD-based fiber design experience preferred

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and other documents

  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and render verbal inputs from the field teams

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to multitask, work on multiple projects simultaneously and have experience in working with a fast-paced engineering team in a production environment

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong sense of methodology, processes and metrics

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • High integrity and work ethic

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The incumbent is occasionally required to walk or stand for long periods of time. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
