CAD Technician - Naperville, IL, Park Ridge, IL or Columbia, MO
Position Summary
Terra Consulting Group is seeking a CAD Technician to join our team and work with Engineers and Designers to create and draft design work for clients. As a CAD Technician, you will primarily use AutoCAD to set up civil project plan sheets, architectural plans and elevations as well as draft and edit associated details. The CAD Technician may be involved with detailing mechanical, electrical and structural designs as directed by Designers. Our ideal candidate can create and develop engineer drawings that include preparing rough sketches and 2D mechanical drawings by studying engineering specifications.
We seek someone skilled in civil infrastructure design, including site plan layouts, storm water management and grading, sanitary sewer design and water main improvements. Our ideal candidate is experienced in telecommunication facility design, including site layout and zoning plans, permit drawings and construction drawings including all related details.

Roles & Responsibilities
Perform QA on initial engineering documents and apply knowledge of standardized building techniques and structure
Prepare final drawings by studying engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents. Draw multiple views of the system, depicting relationship of components and parts
Identify and verify specifications by examining engineering documents and performing calculations
Draw topographical drawings and relief maps, as needed
Job Requirements
Education
An Associate degree in drafting and design is preferred
Experience
AutoCAD required. Civil 3D and Revit proficiency encouraged, but not required
Strong customer service orientation
Experience working in the engineering industry on civil projects or in a telecom environment
Interested and adept at working in a team environment
1-3 years professional experience with AutoCAD
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop is preferred
Excellent organizational skills and strong communications skills necessary
Passion for detailed work
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and other documents
Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Physical Requirements
